THE POPE OF THE POOR AND OF PEACE

(May 24, 2015- While watching Pope Francis in Mass in Jordania)

We are a part of it all.

We have listened and responded to destiny´s call.

This is the day and the season.

Mankind must awaken to a greater reason.

In expectation we await for direction.

Your words, your signs, the paths of your selection.

One Spirit, one body, one mind.

Your mercy, such love, so kind.

This is the day and the season.

In spite of natural disasters, faith and Goodwill pleasin´

Looking up, we see the light.

Looking up, we sense your might.

You have given us consistency, hope;

With humor and gentleness in some mystical design,

You present a witty and special Pope!

Birthday Poem for John Buchtel!!!

THE OLD SHED

My daughter asked, ¨What did you do today¨?

I answered, ¨I wrote a poem¨.

There were tears in my eyes,

Considering how life passes by and time flies.

We talked of love, union, projects, dreams…

Talking without words; life is not what it seems.

The bed was made, errands done, the food cooked,

Something more was left unsaid…

The deep cleaning, details, organizing the messy old shed…

My daughter asked what I did today,

¨I wrote a poem¨, is all I could say.

¨Maybe my children need something more¨?

It left my heart hurting, aching 
with mistakes and misgivings in living I bore.

I hope in some way to make amends

(And end this poem on a happier note,)

With all that I have lived, sung, and wrote!

VINTAGE HEART

Like an old tree that gives much fruit!

She came equipped with songs and poems;

A lowly dress, smile, clear tones.

As time passed by, she changed and grew,

A long-lived tree, abundant fruit;

Aged wine, good taste to suit.

All that was ever needed was a purpose,

A reason, a project, to share production.

Someone to be out there to respond and take…
