Pensamientos!!!

 THE 60'S MOTIF

        "Just a Pawn"
             Bob Dylan

       "Young people speaking their minds"
             Buffalo Springfield

(By: Karla Wagener, written on September 3, 2023)

We were so young.
People in motion.
The days were hard.
We trudged and smiled anyway
Probing for an entryway…
          To some healthier, fitter sphere.

With no guide or mentor,
Solely music linking souls,
Somehow we kept on going,
Passionately,
Who's not dead's grown old.

Treble:

And the music carries on!
Testament and evidence
Of a time of believers and champions
From a landmark decade.
And the music defies inspiration,
Challenging contemporary disbelief and grief.
Raised up from a set immortal motif.
Great times seem so powerfully brief,
Meant to perdue & carry on
An era of relevant, albeit, protest song!
Carried on!

The river is high.
Earth's spirit's so low.
Looking too far ahead,
Wondering which way to go.

Can't be moved along too much
A rushing water...
Gonna settle a bit at the Banks on the border.

But as I sit it gets higher
And higher.
Time to move on along
Ta beat that fierce ol' fire.

No Earthquake's near,
Disaster, volcano or trouble.
Yet what a fraught task to solve
Earth's urgent puzzle.

For what it's worth... your inspiration for September!

Happy birthday to Zoe!

 ZOE

(By: Karla Wagener)

It gets easier to say...
Every day,
When I exclaim
"I love you".

It was so hard to utter
At first seemed just a stutter.
But it gets easier now
Having begun somehow...

Just three simple words
Sung out like songs of birds.
"I love you".

It gets so much easier
Since you exist.

Blessed was the day
Without no shame
Life gave to you
A lovely name!

So I can explain
"How much I love you"!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY FROM ARGENTINA, for October 15, 2023

MYSTICAL POWER

Get to the roots!

Encouragement!

               "Lean on me"
                 Bill Withers

To understand the mystical power of femininity within the spiritual realm we need to unravel Jesus' interactions with his mother. He obviously loved her dearly and respected her. He was obedient to her. Imagine that! Jesus was obedient to his mother! His mother and siblings were considered to be those who did God's will. He gave his mother to John at the Cross, with all that this implies, to be his own mother. Obviously, this shows how meaningful Jesus felt she was.

This mystical relationship is very deeply seeded. Out of it grace and miracles can come forth. Mary is the best, most tender, believing part of Jesus. She is who gives him strength and council. He knows he can trust his mother. He wants to please her. Her opinion is important to him. He listens attentively to her every word. In a word, she encourages him. Jesus recognizes the modest and courageous workings of femininity. And Mary found her strength in Joseph. We all need others and it all begins with two in a private relationship and grows from there, something like an electrical charge or spark, or maybe a seed.

This mystical power inspires action, and works even miracles! It helps us face what seem to be insurmountable situations.

No one knows Jesus like his mother does and as a mother that is why I am so sure of the positive possibilities we should prepare for in the future, even though things seem so bleak.

What greater testimony to mystical power than birth and nurturing? Let the mystery unravel!

I must tell you... I have carried the psychological cross in my life, much like any woman carries a newborn. Through this experience you can have my cross' knowledge and strength. I hope to bestow the graces and peace of mind that comes from this upon you. At the very least you will receive poems and songs from me! Hahaha!!!

WHATTS??? Happy celebration, September 7th!

 WATTS IN A NAME?

(By: Karla Wagener after the virtual Mass from the Cathedral of Buenos Aires given by Bishop Cuervo)

So, what's in a name?

When I was a child the Carmelite nuns of my
primary school, Sacred Heart, told me that the Virgin Milagrosa didn't really have a name in English, that the name held deeper connotations. It was just before my family was about to go to New Mexico where many people speak Spanish, from South Dakota, a very conventional part of the United States. Later I learned Spanish and traveled and live in South America. At the time I first came here in 1975,  things were quite different. It was quite a feat. So I can only wonder why this Virgen Milagrosa is in this picture of me as an Angel for my brother's first communion in 1961. I wonder who is backing up who?  And I am thankful now to be a member of the Legion of Mary for some 15 years. This all has made my life much more meaningful. To tell you the truth, it makes me feel important in God's plans, like I have something to offer that goes throughout my history, something that is timeless. So I Hope this message of support gets to Bishop Cuerva (what a name)and even to Pope Francis, along with my ardent prayers and beliefs! I am responding to what the Bishop said in Mass.

Almost two years before representing an angel in first grade the nuns dressed me as a nun for the school play. It was some time before I took my first communion. They dressed me in white and told me white meant it was for a celebration. All of our class manifested the members of society, and the nuns especially put emphasis in the presence of the Bishop. Of course my little contemplative brain prayed deeply even at that young age. I felt, and tended to always think, that the nuns wanted to prepare me for the second coming of Christ or at the least some incredible destiny. Now I wonder if they intuitively wanted to prepare me for the 100 years celebration of Legion of Mary. Perhaps it was a lot of responsibility for a young mind! At best, I feel that I am one more member of the Legion and that the Legion's presence is paramount as a single entity working as one in our suffering world.

The Virgin Milagrosa is the image of Mary that the Legion employs. I have seen the fascinating work that has come about through her spiritual presence over the years as we have passed her image from person to person, home to home.  This all goes deep into my roots so I feel a need to share all this. Of course that my dad was a disabled WWII veteran who cracked jokes at all my childhood celebrations making me feel I was being sent on some great secret mission only adds spice to this story! Haha!

What I am attesting to is the importance of Legion of Mary and the positive spiritual traditions that form us.

So, what is in a name, Bishop Cuerva?
