EL PARQUE CENTRAL

¡La ciudad de Nueva York es muy grande!

 Hay muchos edificios grandes, altos y el cielo asoma por encima de ellos como un punto. También hay autos, taxis, autobuses y trenes.

 Las mujeres más elegantes pasan caminando por allí.

El Parque central, es un refugio en medio de todo ese ruido y actividad.

Allí se encuentran arboles de formas japonesas, pájaros de toda especie, y pequeños lagos.

 Suele ser tranquilo y soleado.

 El edificio llamado “Empire State” puede ser visto a la distancia.

 La estatua de la Libertad no está muy lejos.

Una persona se siente como en un sueño, mientras camina por el parque de una ciudad tan grande.

CENTRAL PARK

New York City is very big!  

There are many large, tall buildings and the sky peeks back from up high, like a dot up above. 

There are cars, taxis, buses and trains.

 The most elegantly dressed woman walk past.

Central Park is a haven in the midst of all that noise and movement. It has Japanese shaped trees, birds of all kinds, and tiny lakes.  

It is often quiet and shady, with pretty bridges.  

The Empire State Building can be seen in the distance. 

The statue of Liberty is not far away. 

You feel like in a dream walking along through the park of such a big City.

(Por: Karla Wagener, Anoche (19 de diciembre de 2025) tuvimos la celebración de fin de año en el gimnasio. Había más de 100 mujeres, todas adornadas con luces, cascos,

pelucas, adornos navideños y atuendos sensuales. ¡Ganó la monja! Fui de ángel 😇 con las alas adecuadas. ¡Así que hoy terminé este poema que tenía guardado! Me recuerda a cuando las monjas me vistieron de ángel para la Primera Comunión de mi hermano menor, Kurt, por ahi en mas o menos El ano 1961. ¡Genial! ¡Y debería darnos motivos para un buen Año Nuevo a pesar de tantos problemas en el mundo!

(By: Karla Wagener, Last night (December 19, 2025) we had the end of year celebration in the gym. There were more than 100 women all decked out with lights, head gear, 

wigs, christmassy  decorations and sexy outfits. The nun won! I went as an angel 😇 with the appropriate wings. So today I finished this poem I had saved! It takes me back to when the nuns dressed me as an angel for my younger brother Kurt's First Communion. Nice! and it should give us motives for a good New Year despite so much trouble in the World!)

HIDDEN MEANINGS

 

Between the lines
Trying to understand
Broken wings
And figure what's been
Done or said.

Trying to know why
There is pain, suffering,
War and death.

What to do in the meantime?
Praying and still believing
Despite all seen in it's depth.

Desiring to produce
Something,
Anything,
That can explain
Truth from all that's been.

Only by listening

Can we hear...

Clear fine tuning and veracity

Are hidden there.

COLORADO

El estado de Colorado tiene muchas montañas y sierras.  

 Allí hay nieve, museos, pistas de esquí y atracciones turísticas.

Las autopistas pasan por los cerros que parecen no tener fin.

Hay mucha agua de manantiales.

El aire es fresco y se renueva, abundan las ardillas que corren de un lado a otro.

 Este lugar, está repleto de gente saludable y trabajadora.

 Se puede ver casas viejas de madera y edificios de ladrillo, que quedan de la era de la "fiebre" de oro.

 Colorado es extenso, punteado con nubes. 

 Esto da un sentimiento de tranquilidad, pero a la vez animado y lleno de entusiasmo.

There are many old, wooden houses from the days of the gold rush and brick buildings from that era. 

Colorado is spacious, dotted with clouds. It gives an easygoing feeling, yet lively and full of excitement.

UN ANIMAL GRANDE

El camello es un animal grande que tiene un cuello largo.

Este vive en el desierto y tiene uno o dos joroba.

Una joroba es una parte voluminosa o elevada.

Las tribus domesticaron al camello en el sur de Arabia alrededor del año 2,500 A.C.  

Desde entonces, este animal ha sido vinculado con Arabia.

Andan majestuosamente por los valles, apacientan al lado de campamentos de beduinos y hasta se pueden ver en las partes traseras de camionetas Datsun o Toyota.

 En la actualidad, los árabes encuentran más fácil llevar a los camellos en vehículos al próximo destino.

Cuando el camello fue domesticado, cambio la forma secante y agonizante de vida en la península.

Era una "bestia" que proveía leche, carne, cubierta,

(Tiendas de pelo de camello, tejido) y transporte.

Ya era posible cruzar al desierto en caravana, pasando por áreas que ningún hombre habría podido manipular sin este animal grande.

A HUGE ANIMAL

A camel is a large animal with a long neck.  

It lives in desert areas and has either one or two humps.  

A hump is a large, raised lump or part.  

Tribes domesticated the camel in the South of Arabia about 2,500 B.C.

The animal has been linked with Arabia ever since. Camels are still familiar sights in Saudi Arabia. 

They ride majestically down valleys, graze beside Bedouin encampments and sometimes can be seen in the rear ends of Datsun or Toyota pickup trucks.

Today, some Arabs find it easier to drive the camels to their next destination.

When it was first domesticated, the camel changed the life of the drying, dying peninsula.  

It was a beast that could provide milk, meat, housing (woven camel hair tents) and transport. 

It was the camel that made the desert caravan possible, crossing areas no man could manage without this large animal.

EL REGRESO DE LOS GATITOS

Más de un mes ha pasado, desde que tres gatitos visitaron nuestra casa para pasar la tarde con nosotros.

Estos se acercaron a la casa, pero como en realidad pertenecían al joven vecino, él se los llevo a su hogar.

Uno de los gatitos era negro.

Otro tenía un pelaje parecido al de un tigre, y el último era blanco con ¡los ojos más azules nunca vistos!

Todos eran hermosos.

La semana pasada los tres gatitos volvieron nuevamente, asomándose sobre la pared.  

Ellos parecían reconocernos.  

Parecían querer bajarse para visitarnos de nuevo.

Y uno por uno fue bajando cuidadosamente por la pared.

Más tarde se asomaron por el mismo muro, dos gatos grandes. Eran los padres de los gatitos.

Ellos también se acercaron a saludarnos.

Pero esta vez mi vecino no los vino a buscar.

Pues él se había mudado muy lejos.

Hoy mi casa está muy alegre, llena de gatitos cariñosos que ronronean y juegan sin parar.

THE RETURN OF THE LITTLE KITTENS 

More than a month has gone by since the three little kittens came to our house to spend the afternoon.  

They adventured into our house, but they really belong to the neighbor boy so he took them back to his house. 

One kitten was black.

One had tiger-striped fur and the last was white with the bluest eyes ever seen. 

They were all pretty. 

Last week the three kittens came peeking over the wall again. They seemed to recognize us. 

They acted as if they wanted to come down to visit once again. 

One by one they came down carefully from the wall.

Later, two big cats looked down from the same wall. They were the kittens' parents.

They also approached to greet us.

This time my neighbor did not come to get them.

He had moved far away.

To this day my house is a very happy place, full of affectionate kitties that purr and play all the time.

(TU DIA FAVORITO)

A veces los días se vuelven favoritos, cuando en el transcurso de ellos sucede algo importante, como un casamiento, un nacimiento, una graduación, el encuentro con un ser querido, o la llegada de una mascota al hogar. O cuando recordamos, algún hecho ocurrido años anteriores en esa misma fecha. La mayoría de las personas, adora el festejo del último día del año (o el de su cumpleaños) sin importar si esta sucede un lunes, un miércoles, un sábado o cualquier otro día de la semana. En este caso, la ilusión de empezar un nuevo año, y de renovar las esperanzas, transforma el día en favorito.  

¿Cuál es tu día favorito?

 A la mayoría de la gente, le gusta el sábado o el domingo por ser el fin de semana. Usualmente, no tienen que ir al trabajo o a clases. A menudo, pueden dormir hasta tarde, y tienen menos responsabilidades en estos días. Muchas veces, el viernes es un día favorito porque es el último día de la semana de trabajo. Es posible relajarse en este día. En ingles, es común usar las siglas "T.G.I.F" para la expresión familiar,

"Thank God It's Friday"! (¡Gracias a Dios, llego el viernes!)

Usualmente, los lunes no son días preferidos.

Ese día empieza la semana, y generalmente significa más trabajo y menos juego.

 La palabra "daze" significa "confuso o incapaz de pensar claramente". 

Esto, especialmente como resultado de un golpe, o al enterarse de una buena o mala noticia inesperada.

(Daze - Esta palabra suena exactamente como la palabra "days". No confundas esta palabra con "days" (días), que es el plural de un periodo de 24 horas. Estas palabras suenan casi igual, pero se deletrea en formas diferentes. Se pueden comprender los diferentes significados según como se las usa en una determinada oración.

 En ingles, mucha gente hace "jueguitos" usando palabras que suenan igual, pero que tienen diferentes significados.

A FAVORITE DAY

 Sometimes, a regular day can become special when something happens that is important, like a wedding, birth, graduation, encounter with a loved one, or the arrival of a new pet in the home. A day is also special when we remember a special event that happened on the same date. The majority of people love to celebrate the last day of the year (or the day of their birthday). It doesn't matter if this day happens on Monday, on Wednesday, on a Saturday, or any other day of the week. In this case, the illusion of beginning a new year, or of renewing the hopes, transforms the day into a favorite.

What is your favorite day? Most people like Saturday or Sunday because it is the weekend. They usually don't have to work or go to school. Often they can sleep late and they have less responsibility on these days. Friday is sometimes a favorite because it is the last day of the working week. Many people feel they can relax on that day. 

In English we say "T.G.I.F." which are acronyms for "Thank God It's Friday!" 

Mondays are not favorite days usually. 

That day starts the week and usually means more work and less play. I hope this doesn't"daze" you!

There is an expression in English, "These are the days of our lives".

(Daze means "to make confused or unable to think clearly". This is especially as a result of being hit, or of a very good or bad piece of unexpected news. This word sounds much like the word "days". You should not confuse the word with "days", which is the plural for a period of 24 hours. The words sound the same, but their spellings are different.

You can understand the different meanings by the way they are used in a sentence.

EL TORNADO

Un tornado es un viento fuerte, peligroso que se forma en un cono invertido.

Este tiene el poder para destruir edificios u otros objetos mientras se mueve a través del suelo. Probablemente, el lugar más seguro en que uno puede esconderse y protegerse de un tornado, es en un refugio bajo tierra.  

Si no se tiene un refugio, se puede uno cubrir con una tabla, mesa o puerta, sobre la bañera.  

Es necesario quedarse allí hasta que los vientos cesen.

Una vez hubo un tornado en mi pueblo de Aberdeen, en Dakota del Sur.

De pronto la tempestad ceso y las ramas de los árboles, quedaron dispersas por todo el suelo. Todo quedó destruido.

Por suerte nadie murió, pero el daño a los bienes fue notable.

Había casas sin techo, y casas rodantes volcadas.                                                      

Permanecía silencio y paz en el aire después del tornado.                                                  

Se llama esto "la calma después de la tempestad".

THE TORNADO

A tornado is a dangerous, strong wind that forms in an inverted cone. It has the power to destroy buildings and other objects as it moves across the ground.

The safest place to hide and protect yourself from a tornado is in an underground shelter.

If you don't have a shelter, you can cover yourself with a board, table, or door, above the bathtub.

You must stay there until the winds stop.

Once, there was a tornado in my town of Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Suddenly, the storm stopped, and the tree branches were scattered all over the ground. Everything was destroyed.

Luckily, no one died, but the property damage was significant.

There were houses without roofs and overturned trailers.

Silence and peace remained in the air after the tornado.

This is called "the calm after the storm."

ESPECIE PRIMITIVA

La zarigueya (o opossum) es la única marsupial en América del Norte.  

Tiene un cerebro pequeño, pero a la vez una capacidad importante para mantenerse y reproducir.

Su nombre es "opossum virginia".

Las marsupiales nacen después de un periodo corto de gestación.

Luego, siguen creciendo y desarrollándose, ligado a la tetilla de la mama.

La mama tiene una bolsa pequeña y puede llevar a su cría consigo.

Esta es una femenina con suerte. ¡No necesita nodriza!

El primero de escribir acerca del opossum in 1612 era John Smith, en Virginia.

El los describió como el tamaño de un gato con la cabeza de un puerco y la cola como una rata.

Este animal no vive muchos años, solo alrededor de dos años.

Reproduce rápidamente.

Hay un refrán común que dice "jugando al zarigueya", por la tendencia de este animal quedarse sin mover y con los ojos y boca abiertos por horas, ¡mientras se finge estar muerta!

A PRIMITIVE SPECIES

The possum (or opossum) is the only marsupial in North America. 

It has a very small brain, but a large capacity to feed and breed. It is called the Virginia opossum.

Marsupials are born after a short gestation period. Then they continue to grow and develop while attached to the mother's teats.

 The mother has a pouch and can carry her children with her. She is a lucky female, who has no need for a nanny! 

John Smith first wrote about the opossum in 1612 in Virginia. He described them as having a head like a swine, a tail like a rat, and as being the size of a cat. The animal does not live long, only about one or two years. It reproduces quickly. 

 It is common to say, "playing possum" because of the tendency for this animal to stay motionless with its eyes and mouth open for hours as it pretends to be dead!

No sé exactamente qué pasará, pero creo en la creación de Dios y ¡me desperté esta mañana con estos pensamientos!

Algunas reflexiones para la Epifanía del 2026...

¡No subestimes a María ni la energía femenina! Esto es lo que nos anuncia y nos llama a acciones positivas y soluciones beneficiosas. Con tierna humildad pueden surgir grandes obras.

Así es como se produce la vida y así aparece por primera vez.
Culmina en movimientos positivos y es refrescante y sanador. Proclama y predice el futuro.

A menudo se deja guiar por la luna o las nubes, o quizás por alguna intuición inexplicable.

Actúa con respeto, con mansedumbre y sentido, culminando en ayudar en grandes obras de manera práctica, sin ser a veces percibido abiertamente... sabiendo que las grandes empresas surgen de las interconexiones.

Esto es lo que sigue adelante incansablemente a través del trabajo duro de la rutina, y ve el camino incluso en los callejones sin salida más oscuros.

Aunque sufre tanto por la angustia y la miseria, tiene necesidad de proclamar una alegría inmensa en el anuncio de las promesas que le han sido hechas.

Los verdaderos logros se consiguen a menudo fuera del escenario, mediante la constancia diaria y una preparación positiva.

De esto, queridos míos, es de lo que están hechos los milagros.

Como saben, Mary cantaba canciones. No era raro en su entorno. Era consciente de la importancia de la música y el canto. Se convirtieron en un importante medio de expresión.

Ella da a conocer públicamente a su descendencia. ¡Sera que desate el infierno! Este es el año de la redención. Este es el año de la esperanza. Este es el año de la conversión y, sobre todo... de la salvación.

¡¡¡No subestimes a María ni la energía femenina ni el poder de la creación!!!

I don't exactly know what will happen, but I believe in God's creation and I woke up this morning with these thoughts!

Some thoughts for Epiphany 2026...

Do not underestimate Mary or feminine energy! This is what announces and calls us to positive actions and beneficial solutions. In a tender humility great works can occur.

This is the way life is produced and it first appears.
It culminates in positive movements and is refreshing and healing. It proclaims and foretells the future.

It is often guided by the moon or clouds, or perhaps some inexplicable intuition.

It respectfully takes action through meekness and meaning which culminates in assisting great works in a practical manner, without being at times openly perceived... knowing that great undertakings come about in interconnections.

This is what tirelessly keeps carrying on through the drudgery of routine, and sees the way even in the darkest of dead end streets.

Even though she suffers so for distress and misery, she has a need to proclaim immense joy in an announcement of the promises made to her.

The true crowning achievements are often done offstage through daily consistency and positive preparation.

This, my dears, is what miracles are made of.

As you know, Mary sang songs. It was not uncommon in her surroundings. She was aware of the importance of music and singing. It became an important means of her expression.

She makes her offspring known publicly. All Hell breaks loose! This is the year for redemption. This is the year for Hope! This is the year for conversion and mostly... for salvation.

Do not underestimate Mary or feminine energy or the powerfulness of creation!!!

LA HISTORIA DE LOS PARAGUAS

 Nadie sabe exactamente cuándo se inventó a los paraguas.

Hay archivos de alguna clase de sombrilla o parasol desde la fecha de 2686 a.c., en que compararon a "Nut", una diosa celestial en el viejo reinado de Egipto a un parasol.

Los romanos usaban los paraguas para proteger a los ciudadanos del sol. En la India este era asociado con dioses de fertilidad, cosechas, muerte, y renacimiento.

 En 1938 el Ministro primo de Gran Britania, Neville Chamberlain, llevaba con si unas paraguas cuando volvía de Múnich. Anunciaba "la paz en el tiempo actual".

Era inspiración de un estilo, y los paraguas todavía se llama por el nombre "Chamberlain", a veces.

Los soldados británicos han sido conocidos por llevar a los paraguas en batalla.

Entre los primeros en utilizar a los paraguas eran los hombres de fe, como atendían a funerales y estaban expuestos al mal tiempo.

¡Lo cierto es que los paraguas son un invento curioso y útil!

THE HISTORY OF THE UMBRELLA

 No one knows exactly when the umbrella was invented. 

There are records of some kind of parasol structure as far back as 2686 B.C. where Nut, a celestial goddess in the Old Kingdom of Egypt is compared to a parasol. 

Romans used the umbrella to protect citizens from the sun. In India it was associated with gods of fertility, harvest, death and rebirth.

 In 1938 Britain's Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain carried an umbrella back from Munich while announcing "peace for our time". 

He inspired a style, and the umbrella is still sometimes called a Chamberlain.  

British soldiers have been known to carry their umbrellas into battle.

Among the first to use umbrellas were Clergymen since they attended funerals and were exposed to the weather.  

The umbrella certainly is a curious and useful invention!

En constante esfuerzo diario,
Paso a paso mejorando
Alcanzando metas,
Un verdadero emprendedor.

Planeando objetivos,
Reflexiones diurnas,
Insistentes oraciones matutinas 

y paseos por bosques Verdes.

Tomar el apropiado 

Y appreciado descanso!
Esto es conocido y practicado;
Por los mas sabios realizado.

Una dieta que se ajuste a nuestra edad,
Sepa cuándo tomar el centro del escenario.

Sin preocuparse
Por la moda o los bienes,
Aprendiendo a actuar con calma,
No hay necesidad ya, de hacerse el tonto.

Ningún día pasará sin
Música,
y compañía agradable.
Aunque el tiempo pase rápido,
Se cumplirá bastante Bien

LA PARADA DE CAMIONES

Las paradas para camiones, se han convertido en un negocio importante en Estados Unidos.

Una parada debe bombear por lo menos 250,000 galones (946,000 m4) cada mes para permanecer vigente. Los camioneros compran alrededor de 10 billones de galones de combustible cada año. Todo esto ha producido que las paradas de camiones, expandieran sus servicios para atraer aún más negocios.

 Allí, se pueden encontrar peluqueros, estilistas, tenedores libres de ensalada, restaurantes, salas para bailar y descansar, teléfonos, bancos, áreas para hacer compras, y otros servicios tales como artículos religiosos y asesoramiento.

Hasta en una parada, había un gato y una silla mecedora, porque el dueño creía que los camioneros eran individuos "solitarios". El domesticó al gato que estaba disponible para que lo mimen.

Las mujeres son aproximadamente el 4 por ciento de la mano de obra del país y las paradas de camiones también les proveen servicios.

En Septiembre de 1988, una de las personas que se postulaba para Presidente era George Bush. El pensó que las paradas de camiones eran muy populares y realizo una campaña en una, en Illinois. En esta, comió una ensalada mexicana que se llama "taco" y ¡dejo de propina cincuenta dólares!

CHICO VIVE

El Amazonas, es una selva gigante y remota ubicada en el norte de Brasil y es como una montaña mágica de la ecología.

Es conocido como "el pulmón" del mundo y necesita protección para que no se destruya. 

Un antropólogo que ha trabajado allí por diez años ha dicho, "es la misma gente que vive en la selva la que la va a proteger”.

Mucha de esta gente son personas pobres e indígenas, quienes se han agrupado para defender su forma sencilla de vida.

Uno de sus líderes, Chico Mendes, fue asesinado en 1988.  

Cierta vez el proclamo, "Quiero vivir para defender el Amazonas".

Toda la agresión de promotores y el temor a perder esa abundancia importante y verde, canalizaban en la vida de Chico.

El mundo entero mira al Amazonas como solución a los problemas de destrucción, y Chico Mendes se ha convertido en un símbolo de protesta pacífica para ambientalistas.

 CHICO VIVE

The Amazon, a huge remote rain forest in Northern Brazil, is the magic mountain of ecology.

It is the lung of the World and needs to be protected from destruction. 

An anthropologist who has worked there for ten years said, "It is the people who live from the forest who will save the forest". 

Many of those people are poor people and Indians who have grouped together to defend their simple way of life.  

One of their leaders, Chico Mendes, was murdered in 1988. 

He once said, "I want to live to defend the Amazon". 

All the aggression of the developers and the fears of losing that important green abundance were focused into his death. 

The whole world is looking towards the Amazon for solutions to the problem of destruction and Chico Mendes has become a symbol of peaceful protest for environmentalists.  

Questions: 

 1. Describe the rain forest.

2. Why is the rain forest the lung of the World?

3. How do the Indians live in the rain forest? 

4. Do developers protect the land in the Amazon in some cases?

5. Can you name other people who fight for ecology?
