BEARING CROSSES
(March 6, 2014)
Life was a battle; the young years with ups and downs.
There was much laughter, many frowns.
Then I realized that my song was pleasant one day,
When the birds in the yard stopped to listen on their way.
Many explain and tell others what to do,
What is it the Master is saying to our hearts, with each mysterious
clue?
It is difficult, sometimes, to understand what we must bear.
Why we don’t chuck it off, “it doesn’t seem fair”.
Then the awards so marvelous as the heart grows and roams,
The success in knowing that some people actually read our
poems!
“It is the big surprise of the ocean; you don’t know what
you’ll catch”!
What miracle now when we open the problematic latch?
It is the contradiction of all suffering borne…
That leaves us surrendered, manageable, and torn.
There grows new confidence for our sad song,
When the passionate birds begin to sing along!
