LENT, 2016

In a way, I´m giving my age away, but once again we prepare to start the time of Lent on February 10th.  

This year is special to me because it is the marker of the 40 years I have been married to Pascual.  He has been showing signs of trying to better life, and I have made the Lent activities part of life for many years. 

We tied the knot on April 30, 1976, so the date is near Eastertime each year.  It is not a casualty that I got married to a man named Pascual.  I was attracted to the name symbolically.

Forty years is a long trek in the life of a person.  AUGURIOS! And I hope it is a sign and tracks to follow for others so that it can alleviate their journey along the way!

The following poem will give us something to think about to help prepare for this special time!

CROSSFIRE

      ¨El ayuno y la abstinencia frenan la inquietud del cuerpo, 
       frenan los deseos insaciables, purifican y agilizan el alma,

Looking for solutions;

Something shoots and fires out in the way.

It seems the times of bad call out for even worse.

The problems mount day by day.

The worst that can happen to the corrupt and ambitious,

Is that the majority make contrition!

Because no one can control

Those who can´t be bought.

There is a higher price, a higher pay;

Many innocent will fall to persecution,

Yet the Higher Ideals remain and stay!
