I did not realize until later that I wrote this poem-song on September 11th, the day of the Twin Towers disaster in 2001.
A RENEWING ANGELUS
(Sunday, September
11, 2016, while listening to the Angelus of Pope Francis talking about the
three parables of mercy.)
Let it go
All the past
so painful.
Let it go.
Waiting for Spring.
Let it go
The hurt of
mistakes once made.
Let it go.
A new day
beginning.
Look up,
Let go,
Shinning is
the sun.
No longer
hurting for what is gone.
Let it go,
All the
past so painful.
Let it, let
it go – Waiting for growth.
All clouds
escaping
To some
unseen land.
Your hurt
from wrongs done
Moving,
moving, moving,
Into the
past long gone.
Let it go,
no longer hurting.
Forget your
anguish,
Remorse,
vengeance gets nowhere.
What gets
us there is simple everyday care.
