Remember when we lived
Hard times.
When I cooked hosts
Like they were bread
Of gold.

We ate noodles
And drank cheap wine,
Often wondered what
Was theirs or mine.

Well, I'm the same
In poor and wealth.
Richest always
When in good health.

Now the times
Once again press hard
And again I refuse gifts
Of a Cross of gold
Or wild card.

Only to buckle down
To carry on once again
Knowing in suffering
Who are true friends!
