Hoy en día, La Antártida está regida por las leyes de la ciencia, pero los gobiernos están observando lo que ocurre sobre este hielo. En 1959, dieciséis naciones hicieron un tratado con respecto de La Antártico. Ahora hay una necesidad de reglamentar y dar permiso para el desarrollo de minerales, sin estorbar el balance delicado política entre las naciones.
Ya para el año 1984, el número de centros científicos que trabajan todo el año había crecido a 52, representando 14 naciones.

ON THE ICE
Antarctica today is ruled only by the laws of science, but governments are watching what happens on the ice. These 5,400,000 square miles of ice-covered land is about the size of the Soviet Union, minus the United States. This comparison is not often made. Some Westerners say the Antarctic landmass is the size of the continental United States, plus Mexico, which is too small. Ninety-eight percent of the land is covered in ice an average of a mile thick.
The continent's history is full of events of endurance and suffering done for science. It is the continent where human foundations of history and culture are all being built neither by religion nor conquest nor politics, but by science. Scientists are the Antarctic's natives.
In 1959, sixteen nations made a Treaty regarding the Antarctic. Now there is a need to regulate and license mineral development without upsetting the delicate political balance between nations. By 1984, the number of year-round scientific stations had grown to 52, representing 14 nations.

Se cree que el billar, o un juego similar, billar americano, empezó alrededor del año 1250. Billar requiere el uso de trigonometría compleja, y concentración. Se usa el taco para pegar una pelota indicada y con ella pegar dos pelotas objetos en una seria variante.
El billar americano, tiene su nombre por las salas en donde jugadores juntaban dinero en apuestas y es otra variación del juego. Este consiste en pelotas más pequeñas de muchos colores y un taco. En este juego, se pega a la pelota taco con pelotas objetas, haciéndolas caer en huecos posicionados en las esquinas y centros de la mesa. Hay una gran diversidad de formas de jugar este juego. Es desafiante en cuanto a problemático de trigonomia, geometría, psicología y Zen. Contiene tanto Zen, que el erudito de Zen, Alan Watts, alguna vez proclamó el juego con el nombre de "Zilliards".

ZILLIARDS
It is believed that Billiards, or the similar game, pool, began to be played around the year 1250. Plain billiards demands complex mental trigonometry. The cue stick is used to bank a cue ball off three or more cushions (sides of the table) and hit two object balls in varying sequences.
Pocket billiards, or pool, (named after the halls where players pooled money for stakes), is the other type of the game. It involves multicolored smaller balls and a cue stick. In pool, you win by knocking the cue ball into object balls and making them fall into pockets positioned in the corners and midway down the two long sides of the table. There are diverse variations of the game. It has challenging problems in spherical trigonometry, geometry, psychology and Zen. It has so much Zen, that the late Zen scholar, Alan Watts, once called the game "Zilliards".
Is a pool hall a spiritual place? Why not try a game and decide for yourself!

LA INOCENCIA
Nadie me ama como mi gato.
Me ve acostada en la cama descansando, y me comprende. Apoya la cabeza con la y suavemente se la golpea como si dijera, "Aquí estoy, al lado tuyo, para darte consuelo y ayudar a atraer la energía del universo al alma". Luego, él silenciosamente se acuesta y se concentra conmigo, y estamos en armonía. Es muy brillante. Es negro y parece a un pantera pequeño.
En realidad, es el gato de mi hija, ¿pero qué importa? Está siempre conmigo. Me ama y es un gran compañero. Me sigue por las mañanas y me observa mientras cocino. Se aparece para saludar a los alumnos en clase. Le advierto, "no, no, puedes aprender el inglés". Los alumnos se ríen. El gato está siempre cerca.

Vote for someone that you believe in! Our cat "Panthro" or "El Negro" died several years ago. We have had many cats over the years. Some were "El Negro, "Andy", "El mordalon", "Dracula", Ramona, a half-Siamese named "Coli", and finally Esmeralda.
INNOCENCE
No one loves me like my cat does.
He sees me laid out on the bed resting and he understands me. He lays his head next to mine and bumps it gently against me, as if to say, "Here I am next to you to comfort you and help bring the energy of the universe into your soul". Then he quietly lies down and concentrates with me and we are at peace, at least for a little while, my cat and I. He is so shinny. He is black and looks like a little panther.
Actually, he is really my daughter's cat, but does that matter? He is always with me. He loves me and is quite a companion! He follows me about in the morning and watches while I cook. He comes to see my students when I teach. He seems to want to learn English. I tell him, "No, no, you can't learn English". My students laugh. He is always around.
Yes, he really loves me, my little, innocent black cat. He does seem to understand everything. If only he could talk English! Then he could tell me about all his cat adventures when he goes out onto the streets. The most I hear from him is a sweet "meow", but we accept each other for what we are and that is the important thing. Our communication goes beyond language.

Well, it's about 5:00 am and it's raining. The rain often wakes me. I woke up with this song on my mind and I want to share it with all of you! In the homilies during Easter they talked about new life. I feel like I am making a change in my life (or maybe a change is being made in me?) either way, as you know, I am very intuitive, so despite all that's happening in the news I have high hopes! Blessed EASTER time!
