(By: Karla, for Cristian Lema)
When I was 40
My Aunt Regina wrote a poem
About being 80, or maybe 84,
Doubling my score.
There was a lady
In church one day
Who had her 84th too
While I was still 48,
Made me feel so new.
When I turned 38
I joked to stay that age
And not add on any more.
Then my daughter
Turned that age
And I laughed
At what time was for.
The best age of course
Was that at 38
And I wondered how 48
Got even better.
Surely, it's a great surprise,
The years go by
And practice and wisdom
Makes each term even better!
There's something said
In aging well
I feel eternity here within,
Something special
Only the aged can tell!
