Dreams are Hope - Prologue

 

PROLOGUE – DREAMS ARE HOPE

Sometimes one finds happiness when they least expect it.  Happiness often turns up ¨out of the blue¨.  Or perhaps we learn to appreciate what we already have, and are able to fulfill dreams.

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis found wellbeing in the simple things of life, as the end of her life came about.  As she wrote to a friend, ¨being with you would make me laugh.  The greatest healer! This is your gift… I shall look forward to our doing something together in a while when all this first part is over…¨

Many people who seek after fame, riches or power, finally recapture their lives wondering at how the key to happiness is often in pleasures such as family, friendship and work.

Jacqueline also said, ¨You have to do something you enjoy.  That is the definition of happiness:  the complete use of one´s faculties along the lines leading to excellence in a life affording them scope¨.

Some say happiness is the right balance, others say it is sharing and caring for others, perhaps developing skills and abilities. There are some that say happiness does not exist at all!

James Allen, an English writer made many inspirational comments like, ¨The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good.  Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom¨, or ¨Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day become; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.”

So, be encouraged to dream and create. Experiencing life through imagination will develop character, and practice positive conversation because it adds much to life.

Here are some lyrics of a song about hope that I wrote in Spanish and then translated into another version in English.  Luciano Buongiorno (Musician and friend) put the music. Later he translated it into an Italian version.

Whatever the language, hope grows when we sing and dream, and make use of healthy communication.  Also, if we can make music and conversation out of the tough times that makes even the clouds worthwhile! The purpose of this book is to encourage positive conversations.

Note that Dreams are Hope has a version in English and a version in Spanish. It is not intended to be an exact translation.
