THE SUPERMARKET/EL SUPERMERCADO

 A supermarket is a large store which sells most types of food and other goods needed in the home.

Un supermercado, es una tienda grande en la cual se venden una gran variedad de articulos y comida necesarios para el hogar.

A person must walk down the aisle to select the items they want to  buy.

 Las personas caminan por los pasillos, para escoger lo que van a comprar.

There are shelves which hold the food and other items.

 Las  estanterias o gondolas contienen la mercaderia.

 People take items from the shelves and pay for them as they leave.

La gente elige articulos en las estanterias y paga por ellos a la salida, en las cajas destinadas para tal fin.

The cashier is the person who checks out the customers so that they can pay for what they have selected.

 El cajero es una persona que suma el precio de los productos que se hancomprado y que los clientes deberan abonar.

In the United States people say "stand in line" in order to be checked out, but in Britain the people call a line "queue".

 En los Estados Unidos la gente dice, "quedarse en la fila", pero en Gran Bretania se llama "fila" con la palabra "queue".

 Some of my best memories are from when I went shopping in Supermarkets.

Algunos de mis mejores recuerdos, son aquellos que pertenecen a mis compras en los supermercados.

With my father as a child when supermarkets were new, with my husband when we were young, my son, and with my young daughter, which seems a miracle to me!

Cuando era pequeña y los supermercados eran una novedad iba con mi padre. Cuando era joven, ibamos de compras con mi marido y años mas tardes con  mi hijo y mi pequeña hija.

 Todo lo que me parece increible al recordar el pasado.
